A Little Off

From time to time I let my imagination loose and come up with characters and give them background stories. If you don't feel like giving yourself an impromptu eye exam, click on the images to enlarge. :]

2017’s Hurricane Season Might Get A Lil’ Busier Says NOAA

Are You Prepared?

Us Texans get severe weather from time to time. That’s just Texas weather for ya. From downpours and floods, to lightning and hail storms, we’ve all experienced what Mother Nature can do when she’s lettin’ loose on Texas. As home or business owners, it’s our duty to make sure that our assets and loved ones are protected at all times. Think you’re hurricane/severe weather ready? Scope out our checklist below!

1.) Trim Them Trees
Make sure your trees are trimmed and that you remove any damaged branches/trees or loose debris from your yard. Hurricane winds won’t hesitate to pick up any sticks or leaves and fling ‘em in your general direction. Minimize property damage where ya can!

2.) Pick Up Your Yard/Patio/Deck
From foldable chairs and tables, to BBQ pits and questionable flamingo decorations, lock down any items that will be a flight risk during a hurricane. Make room in your garage, store some items in a shed, or temporarily remodel your home with all of your outdoor decorations. We’re sure your loved ones won’t mind…much.

3.) Hurricane Emergency Kit
We’ll let the experts at Ready.gov handle this one

4.) Get Your Mind IN the Gutter
Now that we have your attention, make sure you clean out and maintain any gutters or downspouts around your home. Water should be able to flow in and out of these areas with ease. Having a clean gutter or downspout will help minimize any water damage to areas like your roof or attic when severe rainstorms hit.

5.) Preventative Roof Maintenance
Don’t let “I’ll do it later” turn in to “I should have done that a while ago”. If you’re even a little bit concerned about your roof (or other areas of your home), get them checked out by a professional ASAP. Preventative roof maintenance can save you oodles of repair costs down the road if you get out in front of your roofing problems early enough!
